raw food yoga retreats

raw food yoga retreats

Do you know that many of Yoga Retreats are held together by the cooking of raw foods? Although not clearly specified in advance in the food supply, these retreats are known for providing clean food organic life throughout the duration of the withdrawal.

Many practitioners and yoga instructors (especially those in India) to promote and support a healthy living food kitchen. Books written in a combination of yoga and raw foods are also more easily in India.

What then is the link between these 2 elements that make such an important combination? When to go deeper than the surface, in Actually there are some similarities between these 2 practices, so it is a synergistic combination.

First of all, most people practice yoga for health and welfare reasons. Many agree that feel fresh, energetic, lighter, or just great after doing yoga. Some even reported miraculous healing experiences. Similarly, anyone who eats primarily of a healthy diet and life can experience the same welfare benefits and even the investment positive health. The exclusion of offending foods relieves digestive burden, and the inclusion of healthy natural food nourishes the body. Both yoga and raw foods strengthen the body.

Secondly, yoga is an exercise or practice that can be done anywhere, at any time without any equipment additional. Traditional yoga is done in the field, is only the modern city dwellers than they do on mats. In a way, yoga is a "naked" the activity – using nothing but your mind and body are all born with. When you eat raw and living foods, we use only raw fruits, vegetables, vegetables, nuts and seeds – which are purely of Mother Nature. N seasonings, additives, preservatives or other harmful substances are added. These living foods are produced in abundance by Mother Earth, we are born to be able to eat and digest, and these are natural foods.

Now go a little deeper. The core of downtown Yoga teachings on nonviolence in thought and action. Practice of yogis in the top of this everything else because this principle, if it continues, will make the other principles of yoga to fall into place. Similarly, many found that a vegan raw living foods diet focuses on harmony with nature. By eating natural foods, how to work in tandem with nature, treating both their bodies and the environment with love.

Perhaps the observation more interesting is within the Ego. Yoga teaches to transcend the mind and out of selfish thinking. When put on the raw food, healing is because let the real power of our body are responsible for removing what is toxic and harmful. The body becomes stronger and clearer mind. When he finally quit work against the natural intelligence of our body, miracles happen.

One of the principles taught yoga is about letting go of attachment to the elements materials, and even our bodies. A person who is too preoccupied with their body shape is linked to it, and happiness pivots on how fat / Slim / Muscular / skinny / pretty / ugly-looking. Yoga aims to feel good within our own body, just to be, and does so by training the mind and body to work together. When you eat raw food, no room for processing, greatly harmful substances with taste and others. We need nothing more than what Mother Nature brings us, and they do not need good taste additives. Like Yoga, which is a stream of different positions with the body and mind, mix and raw foods combine different natural foods to produce delicious meals to nourish the body and spirit.

A Raw Food Diet Could Help Obese Kids

Do you have a young child whose weight or eating habits are out of control? Need some real world help with ‘taming the cookie monster’?

Here are some things that worked for our family…

Our daughter, now 14 years old, was plump from birth and thrived happily for her first year on a combination of breast milk and formula. When she was completely weaned and eating only solid foods, however, she began to gain a great deal of weight at an unhealthy rate. raw diet for kidsThis continued for the next year until, on the advice of her pediatrician, we began to modify our daughter’s eating habits. She was barely two years old, but her doctor felt strongly that we should make some changes before her weight became a lifelong problem. The goal was to prevent further weight gain until her height could catch up with her weight, without depriving her of nutrition or having her feel deprived of the comforting aspects of food.

I’m happy to report that our daughter is now a slender, healthy teenager with good eating habits and no ‘food issues’, but learning how to modify our family’s eating behavior was a long trial and error process. Because she was still mostly pre-verbal, discussing nutrition or reasoning with our toddler was not an option. We kept trying new things and learned over time what worked for her. (These tips should prove useful with older children as well but are NOT meant to replace professional advice: Be sure to talk to your pediatrician before changing or restricting your child’s diet.)

Here are some important lessons we learned: Enlist the cooperation of ALL family members and caregivers. Chart your progress over time. Eat what your child eats Get creative in dealing with your child’s individual needs. Don’t starve your child! Be patient and expect resistance and setbacks

Enlist the Cooperation of ALL Family Members and Caregivers.

The first step is to explain thoroughly to grandparents, daycare providers etc., your concerns and those of your pediatrician’s, pointing out that overweight children move more slowly, get less exercise and therefore develop less body confidence, often have social difficulties in school, and frequently become overweight adults.

Reassure them that you will follow good nutritional practices, that your child is under the care of a competent pediatrician, and that you will take special care to fill her psychological need for food in more appropriate ways.

Explain your goals for your child’s weight (e.g. zero weight gain until weight catches up with height), and tell staff your child should not be praised OR punished where food is concerned, only encouraged to eat slowly and move on to another activity when a reasonable-sized meal has been eaten.

Chart Your Progress over Time

Once a month weigh your child and measure her height, being careful not to express displeasure if her weight has increased. Instead, praise her, saying ‘how proud you are of the ways she is growing’. Get a copy of your child’s growth chart (weight-for-height) raw foods diet weight loss from her doctor, and keep it updated monthly. This gives important feedback regarding whether your methods are working, and you can adjust meals, activity levels, etc. accordingly. Never scold your child for overeating or being heavy: Our daughter went through the chubbiest part of her childhood completely unaware that she was in any way ‘different’, and eventually succeeded in achieving a healthy weight.

Eat What Your Child Eats

This requires commitment and discipline! You will only make things much, much worse if you single out a child to eat differently than the rest of the family. The whole family should be working toward healthy life-long eating habits and it’s your job as parents to make sure this happens. I do know it’s HARD to not order pizza when you are too tired to cook, but make it a once a month treat instead of a mainstay meal.

Do the obvious things to cut down on fat in your diet, including switching to skim milk, eliminating butter, cutting back on cheese and fried foods, and cutting out desserts altogether. Snack only on  fresh veggies or fruit , and an occasional Popsicle treat (no fat!). Serve water as a beverage with dinner, (think of milk as a food rather than a beverage) and allow unlimited quantities of steamed or raw veggies (no butter, no ‘dip’). You as parents should decide how much ‘main course’ of a meal your family should have. Serve the heavier foods directly onto plates from the stove rather than bringing piles of food to the table, so there is less temptation to have seconds. Make sure portions are generous enough to satisfy true hunger, but not excessively large.

If seconds are requested, ask your child to wait a few minutes to ‘let her food settle’, or until everyone else has finished, and then give her a smaller second portion, and no third portions for anyone unless it’s a low-fat Item. Do the same yourself, and save any ‘Ben and Jerry’s’ binges for after your kid’s bedtimes.

Get Creative in Dealing with Your Child’s Individual Needs

Sometimes waiting a few minutes in between servings did the trick and our daughter realized she was full before gobbling up a whole second helping, but she would often feel torn about leaving any food on her plate, and stuff herself to the point of a tummy ache just to finish what she started. (This happened even though we NEVER insisted she ‘clean her plate’, a misguided and outdated parenting policy!).

To help her ‘let go’ of a meal we promised that we would ’save it for her’ in the refrigerator, and then wrap it in plastic and let her see us put it away. This really seemed to do the trick: She got to remain ‘in charge’ of ‘her’ food, but didn’t have to feel any sense of loss if it went uneaten.

We did the same kind of thing with candy, too. (People love to give chubby kids candy!). We had a ‘candy jar’ on top of the fridge, where we put any gifts of hard candy she received (we weeded out the chocolate after she went to bed). After dinner, to help her know that ‘eating time’ was finished, she was allowed to choose one piece of hard candy for dessert. This solved the in-between- meal whining for candy issue as well as gave an endpoint to the meal without serving a heavy dessert.

If your child has some quirks around food (and don’t we all?) think hard about what need the food may be filling, and try to meet that need more appropriately. Common needs are Control, Boredom, Anxiety, Anger, and Loneliness. Get creative and keep trying new things. The consistent message you should be sending is that her needs are important and you will help fill them, without using food as a substitute. Your child should always feel that she will get enough to eat when she is hungry, and if you don’t keep junk food in the house, she will learn to eat healthy food to feel full.

Don’t Starve Your Child!

It seems obvious but it’s worth mentioning. Even the chubbiest kids get hungry and need to eat to keep up their energy levels. Regularly scheduled low-fat between-meal mini-snacks can help with this. The worst thing you can do (in my opinion) is make such an issue out of food that it becomes an unpleasant weapon of control. Your child should always feel in charge of her eating, and your job is to help her learn the best possible eating habits.

When you child does ask for food always offer something from the ‘unlimited’ list: a steamed or raw veggie, or occasionally some fruit, unless it’s obviously NOT an appropriate time for snack (just before bedtime, or moments before a meal is served).

Consistently attempt to replace your child’s need for comfort food with some activity that she enjoys: Say "Let’s read that new library book together first!", and offer a snack AFTER the activity. In this way you can gradually learn to tell when your child is actually hungry and when she has some other need, such as feeling tired, bored, scared, sad, or just wanting some attention. Gradually she’ll learn to tell the difference, too, and slowly stop using food as her first ‘fill the need’ strategy.

By consistently offering only healthy food in reasonable quantities, with ’seconds’ allowed of the heavier foods, and some ‘unlimited’ foods always available, your child will retain a great deal of control. She will get to decide how much ‘unlimited’ food to eat, and won’t constantly hear ‘NO’ when asking for more. ("You’ve already had seconds on the chili, honey, but you can have more carrots if you want").

Allowing a snack when requested eliminates the chance of anxiety developing over NOT getting something to eat when your child actually IS hungry. By stalling the snack for a few minutes to read with your child or play a game, you send a message that food will always be available, but it’s really not an urgent problem, and in the mean time there may be a better way to comfort herself.

Be Patient and Expect Resistance and Setbacks

Changing family eating habits can be difficult, especially when food has been used as a source of family comfort or entertainment (and it occasionally is, even in the most ‘perfect’ of families!). Expect your overweight child and other family members to resist changes in eating habits, especially older children who have had longer to become entrenched in the junk food life. Keep firm in your knowledge that you are doing your best for your family, and everaw veggiesn if it doesn’t always go smoothly you will KEEP TRYING. Don’t become discouraged or feel like a failure when your child gains weight or begins ’sneaking food’. This isn’t a reflection on your worth as a parent, but instead shows how difficult this problem can be. If a family crisis or change in routine (i.e. vacation) throws you back into bad habits, start again. This is a PROCESS and is the best gift you can give your child.

Benefits of Chlorophyll in Raw Food Diet

"When you are green inside, you are clean inside", holds a lot of truth. This missing element in many people’s lives would cause all vegetation to die, and subsequently, all animals and man. Without chlorophyll, plants would not be able to take nutrition from the sun, because the process of photosynthesis would not go on. In this article I will explain the benefits of chlorophyll, and why raw foods are the best source for this nutrient. But first, let me review, for those having trouble remembering what chlorophyll is.

Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants, that enables them to take nutrition from the air, sun, and water, and make them "living",  raw foods . This green pigment covers up any carotene pigment in the plant. Chlorophyll is more than just a pigment, obviously, but the pigments tell-tale green color is a great indication if what we are going to eat, or juice, has this most essential element.

Many studies have been done on chlorophyll’s benefits. It is fascinating to me that the chlorophyll pigment, is almost identical to our blood pigments! The biggest difference is that the chlorophyll pigments center atom is magnesium, while our bloods center atom is iron. Think of it! The element that causes plants to be able to convert light into energy, is almost identical to our blood pigment. Thus the nickname: "green blood". It is no wonder that chlorophyll has been shown to work wonders for our blood! With undiseased blood, most diseases are impossible.

It stands to reason that since chlorophyll is a natural deodorant, that animals that eat grass should have sweet breath. It is implied here that they don’t, but being the city girl that I am, I will just have to take others’ word for this. However, there was a study done by a veterinarian, Dr. Maurice E. Serling. He gave his canine patients in his veterinary hospital doses of chlorophyll, and banished all halitosis and body odor after six hours! When the tablets were discontinued, the odors resumed, and when they were started again, the odors left again!
benefits of chlorophyll
There are many benefits of chlorophyll, really too many to list in detail in this article, since it has been used to fight many different diseases, but I hope to give you a basic understanding of a few of its benefits. They are: purification of the blood, liver, constipation and gas corrector, emphysema, abcesses of the liver and kidney, kidney stones, and it has also been shown to be an excellent topical for infections and burns! Chlorophyll contains properties that break down carbon dioxide, and release oxygen, which kills bacteria. It has even been used in deep surgical wounds! Its absence of toxicity, and promotion of repair tissue/skin, and soothing qualities makes it a miracle antiseptic, and it is my belief that if it could be patented, it would be, along with the air we breathe. (Thank goodness that’s not so!)

The raw foods that contain chlorophyll are:  green leafy vegetables  of all kinds, green olives, romaine lettuce, sea vegetables, broccoli, green peas, leeks, bell peppers, wheatgrass juice, and barleygreen (juice). The best salad green for chlorophyll is spinach. It has been shown that cooking changes the chlorophyll, but the results are inconclusive to how it affects us. It results in the magnesium atom in the center, though, being replaced with hydrogen; and chlorophyll being absent after 20 minutes of boiling. Even though green vegetables are full of chlorophyll, many who are really sick do not absorb this chlorophyll due to the sad shape their colon is in; so the raw foods should be juiced, since the lack of fiber in the juice causes the chlorophyll to be absorbed in a matter of minutes!

Ann Wigmore has an unforgettable personal testimony of how she overcame gangrene in her leg. She was told she had to have her leg amputated, or she would die. She absolutely refused, even though her parents, and the Doctor were angry with her. She was basically left alone, and describes hours of solitude outside; since she couldn’t get around very easily, she ate grass! She believes the wheatgrass juice cured her, thus her entrance into that industry. The Bible does say that the herbs are for the healing of the nations, and given Ann Wigmore’s testimony, and scores of others, I think that it is safe to say that the chlorophyll in these herbs is definitely a factor!

In conclusion, raw foods remain the best way to consume chlorophyll, with juicing your vegetables or drinking wheatgrass or barleygreen being the best. It is possible to lightly steam vegetables, and still get some chlorophyll, but it is not ideal, because of the changed atom structure, and the unknown consequences of doing so.

Eating Raw Young Coconut for healing Powers

A few years back, when I was just learning about  raw food nutrition , I went to a raw food festival in Oregon. It was in a beautiful outdoor setting, next to a lake, and very appropriate for nature loving raw food enthusiasts.

Under the canopy of shade trees, I enjoyed listening to several top pioneers of the raw food movement speak on the benefits of raw nutrition. I also met an impressive man who had recently won the non-supplemented Mr. Universe contest as a raw vegan – at the age of almost 50, competing against men 1/2 his age! He certainly was and still is living proof that you can get enough protein on the raw vegetarian diet.

But of all the amazing people I met that weekend, there is one who really sticks out in my mind. She was working at a booth selling organic coconut oil from Mexico. During one of the sessions, while most people were listening to the speakers, I paused to sit with her and listen to her incredible story.

"A few years back," she said, "when I was in my middle 50s, I was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer. My doctor gave me only about 6 weeks to live. I was shocked, but instead of sitting at home waiting to die, I decided to fulfill a long time dream of visiting Mexico. So I packed a few things and went to a remote beach in Baja.

Given to my stomach problems, I wasn’t able to eat any spicy Mexican foods. Even most fruits were out of the question. In fact, the only thing that really felt good to eat was young coconut water and young coconut flesh.

And since there were a lot of coconut palms on the beach where I was staying, that’s all I ate. After about 3 weeks I noticed I began to feel a bit better. And then when the dreaded 6 week deadline passed and I actually felt a whole lot better. I stayed in Mexico for another month, continuing the coco diet.

When I finally returned home the first thing I did was pay a visit to my doctor. I wish I had a picture of the total shock on his face when he saw me walk through the door. Not only was I alive, but I looked pretty good too. I was down 15 pounds and had radiant skin with a nice tan. After collecting himself, my doctor ran some tests and found that I was cancer free.

That inspired me so much that I decided to sell my stuff in the US and move to Mexico. Within a few weeks I had put a deposit down on a coconut farm in Mexico"

The story of this very alive woman touched me and motivated me to do some research on the nutritional properties and benefits of young coconuts. I had often enjoyed them but had no idea how great they were for my health.

As it turns out, young coconut water and young coconut flesh is one of the most amazing foods we can eat. Here’s some of the reasons why:

The water and flesh from young coconuts contains the full range of B vitamins, with the exception of B6 and B12. B vitamins are essential for providing us energy as they break down carbohydrates and proteins. They also support nervous system function and, interestingly, the muscle tone of the stomach.

Young coconut water is antibacterial, and antibacterial.

Young coconut water is high in minerals, particularly calcium (for bones), magnesium (for the heart) and potassium (for muscles).

An average young coconut provides 3 grams of dietary fiber which helps proper digestion and elimination.

Fresh coconut water is very high in electrolytes – much higher than most sports drinks. This makes it a great choice for athletes and children who exercise a lot.

Finally, the water of young coconuts is completely sterile and so close to the structure of human blood that it can be transfused directly. In fact, it was regularly used during WW II for wounded soldiers when blood supplies ran low.

Where You Can Get Young Coconuts:

Coconuts grow only in tropical climates. If you live in a tropical climate, they’ll be easy to find. Make sure to ask for young coconuts and not mature ones. Young coconuts are about 5 months old and have green hulls as pictured here.

If you don’t live in a tropical climate you may be able to find coconuts in your local health food store. Usually they are from Thailand and are white in color – the green hulls have been removed for shipping. You can also try an Asian supermarket.

Don’t confuse young coconuts with mature ones – these have dark brown shells and very thick flesh. The water from these coconuts doesn’t taste good and has lost most of it’s nutritional potency. Also, if you buy young coconut water packaged in a box, make sure it’s not been pasteurized. If it has, it’s  healing effect  is greatly reduced.

Interesting Coconut Folklore

In Sanskrit the coconut tree (cocos nucifera) is called "kalpa vriksha," meaning "the tree which provides all the necessities of life."

In India, coconuts are symbols of fertility. When a woman wants to have a child, it’s common for her to go to a priest to receive a blessing with coconuts.

A legend from the Phillipines holds that humans originated from two coconuts washed up by the sea onto a rocky shore.

Young coconut flesh is the first solid food for babies to eat in Thailand, traditionally fed to them by a Buddhist priest.

In traditional Balinese culture, women were forbidden to touch the coconut tree. Men feared that a woman’s touch may drain the fertility of the coconut tree into her own fertility.

New Guinea natives believe that when the first man died on the island, a coconut tree sprouted directly from his head.

raw food inspiration

raw food inspiration

As a homeopath and mother busy, my time is valuable. After detours, mistakes and years of searching for healthier ways of life, I have reduced my research and test time tips for a seventeen simple. Here are my perennial favorites:

1. Stay calm. The world is not so scary a place like the media and other self-service issues could lead us to believe. Again When I am anxious or worried, "Be still and know that I am God." This gives me peace of mind of knowing that God is protecting us all. No matter what you believe to be God, pray and study daily. If you are Catholic, say the rosary. If Protestant you read your Bible. If you study Jewish teachings. Do not miss out on the importance of faith.

2. Do not watch television or spend time unproductive on the Internet. After working in the field of media, I learned that is not in our best interest to be subjected to most forms of media as a steady diet. Protect your children from it as well.

3. Eat like their grandparents did. Eat whole, real and "untampered-with" food. Make your own meals. It takes longer, but the reward is worth the effort. There is something therapeutic to cut the vegetables fresh and the creation of the soup of the homemade stocks. And you earn a reputation as a good cook!

4. Learn homeopathy to be able to treat you and your family by unknown bit of life. The more you know, you'd want to know. Homeopathy is timeless and enduring. At least, find a certified, experienced homeopath and the use of their services freely.

5. Stay away from conventional medicines, as much as possible. Most drugs are dangerous and at best as superfluous. Each drug has a healthy or homeopathic counterpart, as a cure for the kitchen or herb. (My CD "Homeopathy first aid act Storm "is available on my website homeopathy.) Know the safety and use alternatives with confidence. Save the use of modern drugs for life risk situations only.

6. Get fresh air and direct sunlight for at least 30 minutes daily. Tire away the sun screen. Have you read the ingredients? Inhibits vitamin D and is loaded with chemicals not intended to be rubbed into the skin. However, if necessary, protect your skin from the old way: a hat, cover-ups and common sense when in the sun.

7. Exercise daily. I realize how this statement sounds corny, but after years of resisting the exercise myself because of time constraints, I have come to know that I'm more productive and happier when I exercise. Even a short walk is good enough.

8. If possible, maintain a garden and animals. A flower or vegetable garden can be a spectacle for Eye of emotional pain. That keep us closer to what's important in life, simple pleasures.

9. Protect your family and the integrity of the family in our society. This means your marriage and the marriages of those around you. A united family is the foundation of a healthy, prosperous and creative.

10. Keep their exposure to electromagnetic fields to a minimum. Using a cell phone directly into the ear only when absolutely necessary.

11. Discuss and family to the intelligent, creative and high in our society, listening to classical music, reading good literature, see works of art, it inspires us to greatness ourselves. Then emulate and study of successful and creative life: Mother Teresa, Benjamin Franklin, Gandhi, Churchill, Beethoven.

12. Drink fresh, raw milk. If is available in your part of the world, take advantage of it. If not, find a farmer who sold it to you on a regular basis. Most people who believe they are lactose intolerant are really intolerant of pasteurized, homogenized, ultra pasteurized milk. These products are a great natural milk seemed insignificant. Changes that will be seen drinking this elixir may surprise you.

13. Eat raw dairy products from animals that eat grass and preferably organic. Cheese from raw sheep's milk from Italy, raw goat and cow's milk from France, Denmark, Ireland and the U.S. sometimes.

14. Eat organic. At least as much as possible, buy or grow their own vegetables and eat meat from animals fed on grass. In other words, support local family farms, organic.

15. Include some fermented foods and beverages at every meal. Old fashioned sauerkraut, pickles, yogurt, kefir, kombucha, fermented carrots, etc. They provide live enzymes that allow us to break the cooked food we eat. They are excellent for intestinal disorders and used by the healthiest people on earth.

16. Try eating as about 80% raw foods daily. This is not as difficult as one might imagine, when raw milk consumption, the consumption of fermented vegetables and fresh, and the incorporation of raw yogurt, cheese and butter.

17. Doing a good job. Prepare food and nurse their families in love. Whatever you choose to do, do it with poise, commitment and joy.

The transition to raw foods is not easy for most people. If you have been accustomed to eating all the food cooked in most of his life, this transition can be especially difficult. For people who have always eaten a diet rich in fruits and vegetables may be a little easier, but can still overlook the cooked food that gave them comfort for so long.

Let's look at five ways you can make the transition to raw foods While easier. will be no walk in the park, no matter what you do, will certainly go a long way toward making things go much smoother for you.

1. Add a raw meal to your diet each day. This is especially important if you rarely eat any fruit or vegetables. Adjusting to a new way Eating is always difficult, and the furthest away is your standard diet, the more difficult it will begin adding be. a snack each day, you can start to adjust slowly.

2. Add raw ingredients for sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and other similar dishes. Try to have a sandwich with many different raw vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, cabbage, spinach and avocado, and only one or two slices of meat or cheese.

3. Finally, go to eat only one cooked meal cooked food daily. This should be something you like, but not one of their favorites foods. You need to start moving away from food beloved cooked as soon as possible.

Many people do not implement effective food safety procedures until a food-related illness affects them or someone they know. The Center Control and Prevention estimates that 76 million people get sick each year from foodborne illnesses. Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and aureus are the most common forms of bacteria that can be hidden in your kitchen.

Unfortunately, these bacteria and other pathogens can also be hidden in food. A 1997 study at the University of Georgia, found that even when fresh vegetables were sprayed with an industry accepted the chlorine solution was not sufficient to remove these bacteria.

What can you do to avoid getting a disease through food? Here are some tips to help keep your kitchen safe.

1. Always wash hands with soap and warm water before and after preparing food.

2. Avoid contamination of meat raw (including poultry and fish). Juices from raw meat can contain harmful bacteria and make a mess. Keep raw and cooked meats separate at all times! Use a cutting board to prepare meat and a different cutting board for other foods. Anything that has touched raw meat should be washed thoroughly with soap and warm water. Do not use the same dishes, utensils, etc. to work with the cooked meat. Separate raw meat from other foods in your refrigerator and place it on the bottom shelf so there is less chance juices from dripping onto food below. Place raw meats in plastic bags or containers will also help prevent leakage. After marinating raw meat, do not use the marinade for cooked foods unless they first boil marinade.

3. Fruits and vegetables: Wash thoroughly before preparing. Scrub fruits and vegetables if the brush will not remove the skin. Delete any bruised or damaged food. Bacteria can grow in this area.

4. Kitchen surfaces: ca not see the bacteria, so you never know if they are on kitchen counters, cutting boards, utensils, tea towels and hands! While the bacteria can be outside the view, do not let them out of their mind when in the kitchen! Wash utensils and cutting boards before each use, especially if you are using food utensils several. Clean countertops with antibacterial solution and paper towels. If you use a cloth or sponge, be sure to run through the dishwasher frequently. Combine 1 tablespoon of chlorine bleach and 1 quart of water and pour down the sink in the kitchen to kill the bacteria once or twice a week.

5. Standards Fridge! Bacteria grow between 40 ° F and 140 ° F, so it is important to make sure your refrigerator is colder than 40 ° F. Refrigerate or freeze leftovers and perishables within 2 hours. Thaw frozen food in the microwave, or by placing them in the refrigerator or in cold water (change water every 30 minutes). It's OK to place hot foods in the refrigerator. The sooner you can refrigerate food, the better. To cool large quantities of leftovers quickly but safely separated into small containers before refrigeration. Eat leftovers within 3 days. Leave enough room in the fridge to cool air to circulate. Clean the inside of your refrigerator per week with warm water and soap (no bleach). Raw fish is kept in the refrigerator for 24 hours. The raw poultry or ground beef will remain in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Raw red meat will keep for 3-5 days in the refrigerator.

6. Picnics and BBQ: For those of you who are eating out this summer, here are some tips to help prevent diet-related diseases. Keep all perishable foods chilled up until serving / cooking time. Be careful with dairy products if they can not keep it cold until lunchtime, failed them. Whenever possible, place perishable foods on ice for the duration of the meal. If CA does not use ice, efrigerate (or rule) food after 2 hours. (1 hour if the climate is warmer than 90 ° F). If you are serving hot food must be kept at a temperature higher than 140 ° F. insulated containers or hot buffet trays can work well for this purpose. If you travel in a car, keep food in a cooler with you in the car rather than the hot trunk. Clean lunch boxes or coolers after each use.

7. Keep hot foods

This is one way to cook corn on the cob, an essential part of any barbecue for carnivores and vegetarians.

Lots of other vegetables like mushrooms, peppers and onions, work well on a barbecue, but can be very fussy to work. The classic choice is the vegetable pieces of wire vegetable skewers for kebabs. A faster way is to use a barbecue Â'wok or skillet (try Lakeland), which can be placed in the top of the barbecue and keep all your pieces of vegetables together. Then you can easily cook the vegetables can no smaller than falling through the grill, while retaining the flavor barbecue. This is also a simple way to keep foods separate vegetarian of meat.

A good companion for all your guests is to brush some slices of baguette or ciabatta bread with olive oil and seasoning, and grill on each side until browned. YES and NO. The correct answer to this question depends on what kind of fat you are talking about. Some fats are actually essential to many important body functions, but the bad kind of fat that can take us in a healthy way to weight gain and a long list of diseases.

Fat to avoid

Hydrogenated oils
You have probably already heard in the media or anywhere that hydrogenated oils are bad for your health to avoid at all costs. But, What are they?

Hydrogenation is a chemical process used to make the fat more stable platform. This method of hydrogenation changes completely the molecular structure of liquid oil so that it no longer resembles a natural fat. Because your body does not recognize the transformed as a natural fat molecule, can not process and treats it as a toxin. This "toxin" has been linked to cancer, birth defects, heart disease, diabetes, weight gain and obesity.

We must read the labels! Hydrogenated oil and partially hydrogenated oil can be found in most packaged foods (margarine, cookies, potato chips, pretzels, cookies, granola bars, cereals, sugar, microwave popcorn, low-fat and fat-free snacks). Even there are many foods Packaged advertised as "healthy food" featuring this toxic ingredient.

You should eat fat

Your body can not survive without fat – in particular the essential fatty acids. His brain, hormones, immune system and digestion are all dependent on this healthy fat (as people going in very extreme low-fat diets often suffer many health problems).

Omega 3 Fats
Omega 3s are essential for human health, but not can be produced by the body so it is essential to get these big fat foods. Foods rich in omega 3 are green leafy vegetables, flaxseed, salmon, sardines, nuts, raw, organic eggs and grass fed.

Extensive Research indicates that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and help prevent risk factors associated with chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and arthritis. These essential fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appears to be particularly important for cognitive memory (in the brain and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk of developing vision and nerve problems. The symptoms of deficiency of omega-3 Fatty acids are extreme tiredness (fatigue), poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression and poor circulation.

Cooking oil
The only oil that is suitable for high temperature cooking (and one of the healthiest oils you can consume) is raw, organic, Unrefined coconut oil. Coconut oil has been proven to be one of the healthiest oils for the body and increases the body's metabolic rate (the loss aid weight)

Oils finest raw materials
Olive oil and flaxseed oil are two wonderful oils to use for salad dressing or cooked or raw. These oils have a lower melting point and are more stable (and healthy), when kept raw.

All you need to know about fat intake and fat:
1. Avoid all products containing hydrogenated oil and partially hydrogenated oil
2. Eat foods that are high in Omega 3 as salmon, flax seeds, nuts and eggs
3. Cook with organic, unrefined coconut oil
4. Use olive oil and raw linseed oil for salads and vegetables. Avocados are also included as a healthy source of fat in their meal plans.

Remember that not all fats are created equal and proper use of good fats can be a great way for you and your family to optimal health!

raw food snacks

raw food snacks

As I am getting more and more the 50 years I think it's time I start to think more about health food snacks. As the middle century (boy that sounds terrible) approaches, the situation may seem hopeless, but to be honest, I feel great!

I do however know that, though I feel great and now enjoy good health, habits of recent years could turn against me physically. If no action is taken now to deter health problems in the future will be more or less my fault. After all I only control what I put in my mouth to eat.

In recent years I have not always had the best nutritional habits. I was on the road a lot more travel for work and once I ate a couple of king-size chocolate bars from the gas station instead of planning a meal or take some time to find a healthier alternative.

Now that I'm older and more wise (over anyway, I'm still working on the bit wiser) I'm trying to make better nutritional choices. I choose healthy food snacks revisions rather than sugar quickly.

This transition is not easy. I found that at most of the people I'm addicted to sugar. There I said I'm addicted to sugar. If you ever tried to wean itself away from using or consuming I'm sure sugar has been difficult. It's hard to quit cold turkey.

I read somewhere that when the body is craving sugary confections that sugar, I really want is natural. The natural sugar can found in natural foods such as fruits.

Fruits are my secret weapon to fight my sweet tooth. I must admit that an orange or a banana is not exactly the same as a cup of peanut butter and not as sweet but it does help to curb sugar cravings.

As time passes and they have stopped eating sugar refined food sources that contain natural sugars seem sweeter to you than they did before. Once you've reached this point I would try to add a whole grain snack bar to your arsenal of healthy snacks. Be careful though, make sure you read the ingredients. Kashi has a great selection of good tasting bars.

These bars are not whole grain sugar levels rise and does not leave you tired an hour later, as do the sweet sugar. They are also a good source protein and fiber. Just be sure to read the label. Again, you are responsible for what they do not eat the marketing companies trying to sell all products horrible out there. Take time to be an intelligent and informed consumer.

So there you have it my take on healthy food snacks. I think we all know that it is easier to eat badly but the fact of the matter is that it will catch up to you physically. Become informed and make healthy choices. For great science-backed information about becoming healthier and fit poke around at http://EasyFitnessAndNutrition.info also be sure to download the free report too.
