If you are looking for some food "comfort", a new recipe for your table, or an economical meal, here are a couple of recipes for you! These casserole recipes are the delicious memories of Grandma's hot dishes or oven of the mother.

For most of us, it's "comfort" enough. Chicken Rice Casserole color is a kind of Tex-Mex which means a great mix of flavors. Chicken and ham casserole also makes use of mixtures of rice and the flavors of two meats. Both will undoubtedly be big hits with his family.

COLORFUL CHICKEN RICE CASSEROLE

1 can (10 3 / 4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup, without dilute
1 cup sour cream
1 / 2 cup cottage cheese
1 package (3 oz) low fat cream cheese, cubed
3 cups cooked chicken cubes
3 cups cooked brown rice
1 1 / 2 cups (6 ounces) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies
1 can (2 1 / 4 ounces) sliced black olives, drained
1 / teaspoon garlic powder 8
1 / 2 to 3 / 4 cup crushed cornflakes
2 cups shredded lettuce
2 medium tomatoes, chopped

In a blender or food processor, combine the soup, sour cream, cottage cheese and cream cheese, cover and process until smooth. Transfer to large bowl. Add chicken, rice, cheese, chiles, olives, garlic and salt. Spray a baking pan with nonstick cooking spray 2 quarts for cooking. Transfer the mixture into prepared pan. Bake, uncovered, 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and just before serving, sprinkle top with chips corn, lettuce and tomatoes in that order.

Yield 6 to 8 servings.

CHICKEN AND HAM CASSEROLE

1 package (6 ounces) long grain blend and wild rice
2 cups diced cooked chicken
1 cup cubed fully cooked ham
1 can (10 3 / 4 oz) low-sodium cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 can (12 ounces) of skim milk evaporated
Colby cheese 1 cup shredded Cheddar or
Pepper 1 / 8 teaspoon
1 / cup grated Parmesan cheese 4

Cook rice mix according to package directions. Skip to 2 greased baking pan. Top with chicken and ham. In a bowl, mix soup, milk, cheese and pepper, pour over the mixture chicken. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.

Makes 6 servings

I received a few emails recently concerned with the amount of sweetness in a low-fat, high fruit raw vegan diet. As expected, many of you are not quite used to the sweetness of the fruit both

To solve the problem, many beginning raw foodists substitute salted vegetables and / or fruit nuts, seeds and avocados for fresh fruit.

Big Mistake

There are 2 problems with this approach:

Green 1. And the vegetables are low in calories
2. Nuts, seeds, and avocados are foods high in fat

In terms of the greens, these food are too low in calories. Even a salad of romaine lettuce 8 ounces, a large cucumber, chilli all, and two medium tomatoes is under 200 calories! The only way to increase the calories in this dish would be the incorporation of fruit or fat.

Which brings me to the second problem: nuts acids, seeds, and avocado. Contrary to what people (raw and cooked foodists alike) like to believe, nuts do not have high protein foods. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this, it becomes a problem when these foods are replaced by fruit and eat in mass quantities. While it is acceptable perfectibly to eat one pound (or two) of fruit in one sitting, this is a recipe for disaster in terms of fat.

Excess fat has been linked to obesity, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, and even depression.

Mix everything together. Add water to get the texture you want. I like my smoothies thin they tend to add a few cups of the mixture.

Why works

The green smoothie concept works for (you guessed it) 2 reasons:

2. The greens help to reduce the sweetness.

As a homeopath and mother busy, my time is valuable. After detours, mistakes and years of searching for healthier ways of life, I have reduced my research and test time tips for a seventeen simple. Here are my perennial favorites:

1. Stay calm. The world is not so scary a place like the media and other self-service issues could lead us to believe. Again When I am anxious or worried, "Be still and know that I am God." This gives me peace of mind of knowing that God is protecting us all. No matter what you believe to be God, pray and study daily. If you are Catholic, say the rosary. If Protestant you read your Bible. If you study Jewish teachings. Do not miss out on the importance of faith.

2. Do not watch television or spend time unproductive on the Internet. After working in the field of media, I learned that is not in our best interest to be subjected to most forms of media as a steady diet. Protect your children from it as well.

3. Eat like their grandparents did. Eat whole, real and "untampered-with" food. Make your own meals. It takes longer, but the reward is worth the effort. There is something therapeutic to cut the vegetables fresh and the creation of the soup of the homemade stocks. And you earn a reputation as a good cook!

4. Learn homeopathy to be able to treat you and your family by unknown bit of life. The more you know, you'd want to know. Homeopathy is timeless and enduring. At least, find a certified, experienced homeopath and the use of their services freely.

5. Stay away from conventional medicines, as much as possible. Most drugs are dangerous and at best as superfluous.
