raw food academy

Many of my clients often ask for quick, easy, and portable snack ideas. Below is one of my favorite trail mix recipes that is great for on-the-go eating. This is an excellent snack for everyone: professional athletes, weekend warriors, non-athletes, even children.
Not only will you save money by preparing your own trail mix, but it will be healthier for you than most trail mixes on the market. This trail mix will provide you with essential fatty acids, phyto-chemicals, protein, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, fiber, and many other nutrients and minerals that your body needs. This combination of valuable nutrients will help promote cardiovascular health, have anti-inflammatory benefits, assist in immune function, satiety, and much more.
Feel free to experiment with your favorite ingredients. To add sweetness, you may wish to substitute dried cherries, wolfberries, flax seed, apricots, cranberries or chunks of a high quality dark chocolate (stay away from milk chocolate). Just remember to watch the sugar content, as many dried fruits can be high in sugar.
When selecting your ingredients, try to choose unprocessed, high quality organic nuts and seeds as they will have the most benefit for you.
Since nuts tend to be high in fat, try to keep to a serving size of 1/4 cup. Pre-packaging portions into small plastic bags ahead of time is a great way to avoid overeating and will provide you with a quick snack you can take with you on a walk, hike, long car ride, or even at your work desk.

raw food equipment

which is the best juicer, food processor, and dehydrator for the lowest cost?
i am looking for reasonably priced juicers, food processors, and dehydrators. i am about to go raw vegan and i heard i would need this type of equipment.
have either of you had actual experience with that juicer? you can edit your messages….. right now it is hard to vote on a best answer as both answers are the same…..
I currently use a Waring Pro juicer and am happy with it. Just did a quick search and see the current version of it is called Waring Health and goes for around $60-70.
My dehydrator is an ancient Magic Chef. No longer around but the Snackmaster models are similar and what I’d get if mine died.
I dumped my traditional food processor years ago and instead have a Siemens Food Processor Plus. It’s a combo unit that also is a mixer/doughmaker, citrus juicer, blender and food processor.
Bosch also makes similar units and both companies refer to them as MUM for multi unit machine. Very hard to find in the usa but worth it. I gave you a link to tuesday morning’s website since they sometimes have these machines at a *HUGE* discount (mine cost $99 but thru amazon was $349). This is the kitchen machine that I can’t do without!
You can hit ebay and search “Oster Regency” if you don’t mind used kitchenware. That’s what I used for everything kitchen until mine was destroyed in a house fire. Works quite well and doesn’t waste counter space. Hmm, quick search didn’t show the ‘real’ juicer attachment available.
FWIW; dehydrator can be replace by your oven. food processor can be replaced by a Mandolin (kitchen not musical
edit: Remembered that my dehydrator was actually a nesco so I gave you the link to them (and now see they make the snackmaster ones). The only thing I don’t like about the modern ones is that they don’t use clear plastic anymore (I like to see what’s going on
If I was going to buy a standalone food processor I’d go for a Black&Decker simply because they’re products are inexpensive and reliable.

Raw food diet for cats? I need more info about it?
So does anyone know what’s the deal with the raw food diet? I’ve read a lot about it on the Internet but still can’t make up my mind. Some experts claim it’s the best thing for your cat. This actually makes sense since it’s what naturally a cat would eat. However, some people, vets included, say it’s not a good idea bcoz of the risk of bacteria, parasites etc. Most vets actually recommend commercial foods such as Science Diet and Iams which really surprises me because those are not premium foods, they contain a lot of meat- by products, grains and all kinds of crap. So why do vets recommend them? Do they get paid to promote certain kinds of foods or what?
I don’t know if vets get paid to promote those foods. No clue. But I do know from personal experience (my vet) that Hills offers classes in “nutrition.” Not surprisingly they push their own products.
It’s obvious to me now that any vet who’s had adequate training in feline nutrition wouldn’t reach for a bag of anything, let alone a food food with more corn than meat.
I think the reason is they just don’t know any better. And they do what they’re told, and what they’re told is that Brand X is good. So they just parrot that info.
I feed one cat raw, the other canned. I’m hoping to transition #2 to raw someday, as it’s much less expensive and of course healthier. So I do have personal experience although I’m not holding all the answers.
But I did write this blog which may help you:
This blog is not intended to serve as your one-stop-shop for raw feeding. But hopefully it’ll help you focus on what you need to decide and give you ideas of where to look for more info. I personally chose to feed ground whole prey so I do not supplement*. I still serve some canned food for variety and likely will always have some on hand. I am feeding chicken, turkey and rabbit, and perhaps other meats when they become available.
(This ground meat does nothing for their teeth, so I also give the girls 1″ or so pieces of raw chicken neck to chew on. I do this a few times a week.)
*Unless you are truly feeding whole prey (e.g., a mouse) then it’s perhaps a good idea to do a bit of supplementation. The members of Whole Cat Health overwhelmingly favor the Nu-Cat multivitamin – either chewable or tablet. Note that their recommended dosages are half what the mfrs. suggest, so instead of 4 pills per day, give 2. Instead of 2 chewable, give 1. In addition, I add about 100mg of Taurine to each 2oz of meat – perhaps a bit more if it’s rabbit. On top of that, I add fish oil and probiotics. So to sum up, to each meal (2oz meat/bones/organs), I add one crushed multi-vitamin and the taurine. To every other meal, I add about 1/4 tsp probiotics. I add the fish oil at the time it’s served because I don’t want it to interfere with the flavor of the food.
So you’ve decided to feed raw. What’s next?
It’s actually pretty simple. You need to find a supplier. You need to decide on a method (ground, whole, etc.) You need to decide which meats to use. You need to know whether you need to supplement, and if you do, what supplements to use. And most importantly, you need to get your cat to eat it.
1. Finding a supplier.
A. Find a local supplier. If you’re in the midwest, I recommend Taylor Pond Farms. I buy my meat from them and it couldn’t be easier. They now rely mainly on local distributors who have the orders shipped to them (or keep some on hand), and they then make the deliveries. It’s much better this way because now there are no minimum orders, which was sometimes a problem when I was buying for just one cat. www.taylorpondfarms.com. They also have Yahoo groups for specific areas (http://groups.yahoo.com/search?query=taylor+pond+farms). You can also join http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/rawmeatsearch/, http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CarnivoreFeed-Supplier, http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/WholeCatHealth/ and look through their list of links.
B. Buy online. One site used by many is www.hare-today.com. There are many other sites; the WholeCatHealth links above will help you find them.
C. Buy meat at the grocery store. Your choices will be limited but if all you’re going to feed is chicken, that’s fine. Just be sure that the meat is hormone and antibiotic free – or organic.
2. Choosing a method.
A. Whole prey. This may be either meat, bones and organs all ground together, or it may be chunks of meat and whole bones and organs. With this method you do not need to supplement; your cat will be eating a properly balanced meal (almost – see the above asterisked paragraph regarding supplementing.)
B. Just meat. Again, this can be either chunks of meat or it can be ground. If you do not include bones and organs, you will need to add supplements to ensure that the meals are complete and balanced.
To learn more about these methods, check out these Yahoo groups: (http://groups.yahoo.com/search?query=raw+feeding+cat)
3. Supplements. If you’ve chosen to serve meat without organs/bones, you will need to add supplements. There are a few different ways to do this. You can purchase a ready-made supplement such as Instincts TC (http://www.felinefuture.com/) or Wysong’s Call of the Wild (http://www.wysong.net/page/WOTTPWS/PROD/CALL_OF_THE_WILD). Or you can put together your own mixture. There are tons of recipes out there. One example is here (http://www.catnutrition.org/foodmaking.php). One of the raw feeding groups is dedicated to one particular supplement: (http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/felinefuturediet/).
4. Meats. Most meats are appropriate but you may want to avoid pork. The most commonly used meat is chicken. My vet suggested feeding a variety, so my choices are chicken, turkey and rabbit. If it becomes available I’ll also try venison. Lamb and duck were rejected. It’ll be up to you and your cat what to feed.
5. Converting your cats. If you’ve got a kibble junky on your hands, it might be easier to first convert him or her to canned food, and then try the raw. This has been a tried and true method for many including myself. Once the cats are happily eating canned food, start slipping a bit of meat into it. Just a speck to start with. Gradually increase that amount. If the cat balks, back down a bit but keep at it.
When you’re ready to try it alone, you may need bribes. Raw meat has little scent so it can be helpful to add something stinky your cat likes. Crush some kibble and sprinkle it over the top. Try fish or liver flakes, parmesan cheese, a drop of soy sauce, meaty baby food (with no added onion or garlic), whatever it takes.
Note that you do not have to start with canned. You may be able to toss down a hunk of chicken and your cat will devour it. You never know until you try.
If you join any or all of the above groups, you’ll find many more tips as well.
Patience and perseverence is the key. I was surprised at how readily Poppy took to the chicken after being on canned food for a year, but Sophie who is not normally picky has been resisting. What she doesn’t know is that she’s getting a bit of chicken along with her Wellness. (NOTE: Mushier canned foods may do better to hide the meat than the denser varieties such as Instincts).
Last but not least – relax! If you’re researching this you may become overwhelmed at the tons of info out there, and all the conflicting opinions about what is best. What you need to do is choose the method that will work for YOU and your cats. And while it is important that your cat eat a balanced diet, it is not the end of the world if you don’t get it exactly right your first time out, or if you forget to add a supplement one day. As my vet said, do you eat a balanced diet every day?
I don’t mean to downplay the importance of proper supplementation, but this shouldn’t be viewed as rocket science. It CAN be done.

raw food testimonials

Two of the most popular diet and fitness programs in the world today are Fat Burning Furnace (FBF) by Rob Poulos and Turbulence Training by Craig Ballantyne. Both programs have many positive testimonials and have produced excellent results for many men and women.
As these programs are both based on a similar concepts, those of high intensity interval cardio workouts, effective full body weight training, and proper and sensible eating, all focused on boosting your metabolism and your body’s natural ability to burn fat, one has to wonder what the difference is between them. If you need to choose a program today, which one of these fine products should you go for?
First, for you to benefit from either of these programs, you need to be willing and able to workout and workout hard. Physical fitness is key to the success of both of these programs. That being said, there are some differences between the two programs.
The difference is in style and content. It has a lot to do with the creators of these programs. Fat Burning Furnace was created by Rob Poulos, a former overweight guy who tried and failed with many programs and ended up creating his own, based on what worked for him and his wife and helped them lose over 100 pounds combined.
This background helps lend FBF a sort of “I know what you feel like” vibe. Rob Poulos has been in the same shoes as most of the people who are looking for a diet and fitness program, so in terms of motivation and psychology, Fat Burning Furnace may be the better of the two programs.
Turbulence Training is a bit different and it has to do a lot with Craig Ballantyne, the noted trainer who authored it. If there’s one thing that impresses me about Craig Ballantyne is his creativity. He knows how to formulate interesting, intriguing, and effective workouts. His knowledge of exercises is broad and he is not above combining different exercises in unique ways to create new and powerful workouts.
I happen to find the overall tone of Turbulence Training much more physical and challenging than FBF. There’s no doubt that this challenging aspect is one of the primary factors of why it works so well for men and women both.
If you’re interested more in the physical aspect of fitness and fat loss then Turbulence Training can certainly provide a more extensive experience. If not, than Fat Burning Furnace is excellent in many aspects and I highly recommend it.

Amaryllis starts with seven ripe bananas mashed into a bowl. She sifts flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt into a bowl. She creams together butter and sugar, adds a 1/4 cup of honey and a tsp. of vanilla to the butter mixture, then adds the lightly beaten eggs. She combines the wet and dry ingredients and adds a cup of chopped walnuts, a cup of raisins stirred in at the end, and pours the batter into 2 oiled loaf pans, or several mini loaf pans to bake at 350 degrees 45-60 minutes until done! Sometimes she adds yogurt or 1/2 cup sour cream to the mixture. Many quick breads, like pumpkin bread and zucchini bread, are done this way. ItÂ’s so easy!

2 & 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 sticks butter at room temperature

raw food cure diabetes
What are the benefits of a raw food diet? Does it work? If you have experienced this, what are the pros/cons?
Raw foods are supposed to cure type II diabetes naturally in 30 days according to the documentary, “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 days.” and RDNmovement.com, Who has direct experience with this program. I am considering a raw diet.
The raw food diet is how we were meant to eat, the best raw food diet is one with mostly fruit and some veggies, most veggies aren’t fit for human consumption, have you ever been attracted to eating a raw veggie without seasoning, etc? There are only a handful of veggies that we can consider human food, and some can be considered fruit(romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado and bell peppers(all colors except green which are unripe)).
Beyond that I highly recommend lots of fresh air and sunshine and abandonment of pharmaceuticals, creams, soaps, cigarettes, etc(assuming you don’t absolutely need them, I don’t know you and the raw food diet may lead to you saying good-bye to these products). I wash in just water and brush my teeth with just my brush and water.
If you live like this you can say good-bye to 99% of all disease including cancer, diabetes, etc, and never have to worry about them again.
Edit: Read the book 80/10/10 and check out this website – http://www.rawschool.com/basics.htm
Edit #2: If you go raw, watch out for someone named David Wolfe, he’s a con artist and his main goal is to sell his “superfoods.”

raw food recipes bread

How can I make the switch to a vegetarian diet and also ensure I am getting adequate nutrition?
I am considering making the switch to a diet containing mostly raw vegetables and fruits (and probably will still eat eggs, whole grain bread, and every once in a while some salmon/tuna) but I am having trouble planning first what to buy at the whole foods market and plan meals every week in a way that ensures I am getting most vitamins and minerals, protein, etc (I will take supplements and ensure I get B12 etc but still). Is there a place on the web that will map out my week with recipes and daily nutrition ideas? Is there a meal planner I can hire or something that has a focus on this types of lifestyles?
First of all, congrats on going vegetarian! I’ve been vegetarian for a while now and it is totally worth it.
Secondly, I drink protein shakes every morning with breakfast to make sure I’m getting enough protein. It also give you a little burst of natural energy and keeps you feeling good all day. They come in lots of flavors. My favorites are vanilla and strawberry. I usually add some fresh berries and a banana too.
And go to goveg.com or vegcooking.com
i believe they have a meal planner on their. They have LOTS of amazing recipes and sources about veg cooking.
I hope this helps and good luck in your switch!

raw food studies

If you are thinking of switching to a raw food diet, either permanently or for a trial period, you need to know something about the diet itself so you can make the decision information about what is left for.
A raw food diet is now followed by millions. Some see it as a permanent way of life, while others take on a temporary basis, usually to lose weight.
Some people are fighting the disease or illness, and see change as a way to reduce stress on their bodies. The role of enzymes is crucial for the argument of raw foods. Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts, in other words, that accelerate a reaction, in this case, the digestive process.
Research has shown that when raw foods chewed, the enzymes are released into the mouth. Raw foodists argue that these enzymes survive for about 30 minutes in the mouth and upper stomach, and at this time substantially aid the digestive process (once you get to the bottom of the stomach, the enzymes are destroyed).
The enzymes are killed at temperatures above to 115 degrees Fahrenheit – so the raw food diet. Apart from the benefits of easier digestion (and therefore less stress on the body), raw foodists also argue that cooking food makes it really bad, and there is some truth in this.
For example, several studies have shown that cooking creates substances that are believed to increase cancer risk in humans. Microwave can destroy part of the value in foods, and foods preserved by smoking and salt containing products known to be carcinogenic nitrosamines. Moreover, raw diets have also been associated with an increased risk of food poisoning (the level is 10 times since the 1970s), and outbreaks of gastroenteritis.
Cooking makes food easier to digest, and increases the availability of some anti-oxidants and vitamins (eg, cook carrots and tomatoes increases the body's absorption of some of the antioxidants they contain). As with both life, moderation is probably the answer.
One of the main proponents of eating raw foods, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, said that children who grow can not get enough vitamin B12, vitamin D and enough calories in the diet of this type. It suggests at least 80% of your diet should be raw foods and vegetables, and think that just over 10% of food from animal products leads to an increased risk of disease.
So while there are undoubtedly many benefits in exchange, you have to make a change of 100%. The mere increase in the amount of raw food diet can have a wonderful effect on your health and wellbeing.
Diet is only one part of keeping your body looking good; you also need to think about keeping fit and in shape. Visit http://www.ellipticalstepper.net to find out how a home gym with a compact Elliptical Stepper can help you lose weight and stay fit.

raw food rosacea
Has anyone had success combating rosacea with food?
Hey I was wondering if anyone has tried the raw food diet .... or eliminating certain foods and be aware that their roscea? Really red cheeks on?
Your roscea or redness of the skin in general, can be clarified with a better diet. Be sure to eat pleanty of fruit and vegetables filled antioxident (especially green) and feel free to dress them with oils such as olive or flax. It is also a good idea to check to see if you may be allergic to foods such as milk or wheat. A multi-vitamin would be a good option too. Hope this helps!

how can i be healthy and balanced?
im recovering from an eating disorder, well have recovered and am finding myself slipping again. when i try to eat healthily i end up going overboard and restricting my diet and only eating healthy raw foods most of the time. i end up cutting calories and avoiding high cal food(even if its good for me eg nuts).
however if i try to introduce more calories or sweets/treats into my diet i end up binging and overeating, which makes me feel terible.
do you people have any ideas how to get enough calories in whilst eating healthily but not obbsessive? ive tried to copy some friends but it doesnt work and ive tried to find my natural balance which ends up either restricting or binging!
Maybe use your obsessive restricting to your advantage! Use it to plan what your going to eat….but healthily. If you know what and when your eating you’ll still feel in control…
Nuts are good for you. Dairy is good for you. Eggs are good for you. Potatos are good for you, vitimin C. Even chocolate is good for you! Dark choc has iron and antioxidents in it. Learn the nutrional value of food. Forget calories, fats, sugars… instead – what vitimins has it got?

raw food cleanse detox

Does anyone know of a good cleanse/detox/diet (for health purposes, not necessarily to lose weight)?
Hi,
I have done the master cleanse (lemonade diet) twice before, and I’d like to do some sort of detoxification type regimen again, but I’d prefer it to be something where I actually eat a little. Like all raw foods, or just something very specific and simple that will have me eating small portions of the best foods to assist in cleansing my system. If anyone knows the name of any kind of cleanses of this nature, please tell me and pass along any details. Also, if you know any websites or books that detail something like that I’d be really interested. What I DON’T want to do is buy some whole system from a company that is going to cost me hundreds of dollars. That’s all I seem to have been able to find so far. Thanks for any help or tips!
Two words: Fiber & Water.
These are our detergents. These clean out our digestive tract. Simply reduce processed foods – eat more fiber, drink more water. Its a process that lasts longer, and has more benefits then the so-called “detox” diets. They only work because they are doing the SAME thing. Giving you mega-doses of fiber and water.
Beyond the small intestine, the liver takes care of everything else. That’s what it does.. let it do it’s thing.

The current crisis in our supply of pet food has a lot of us looking for homemade dog food recipes for our beloved pets. I've been cooking for our dog for many years and find that especially likes the same food we do. Each animal has its own preferences, as we do. For example, our Oscar will not eat tomatoes, but Bonnie loves. Use these recipes as a starting point instead for homemade dog food recipes. Then, as you discover your pets can customize preferences over them. One caveat: you should not serve onion or chocolate to dogs as they contain substances that can be toxic to dogs.
Some veterinarians prefer raw meat for our pets. I prefer to cook the meat because of concerns about contamination of E. Coli and other bacteria. If you want to use raw meat, do not use ground beef. The milling process increases the likelihood of contamination by providing more surface area for bacteria growth.
Canine Meat and cereals Menu 2 cups cooked brown rice
Beef 2 / 3 cup Lean
2 teaspoons lard – or vegetable oil
1 / 2 cup vegetables – no onion * Mix all together. You can serve the meat raw if you use slices of beef. Do not serve raw ground beef, the milling process increases the chances of bacterial contamination. Use the vegetables you want. You will find over time that your dog leave the vegetables do not like. Mix above. Spoon a little warm but not hot. Chicken Chow Chow You must remove the meat from the bones in this recipe. Chicken bones can easily splinter and cause choking problems in dogs. 2 legs of chicken – Or white meat

Where do I purchase the foods for my dogs’ “raw food diet”??
After researching online for a long time the benefits of a raw food diet for my dogs, I think I would like to start. However, where can I start shopping for the raw meats and veggies? I know i can’t just go to wal-mart and buy some chicken and ground meat from the meat dept., right? I know someone said the meat has to fresh, the eggs have to be free range fresh, and the veggies and fruits organic—where am i going to find all this??
Actually – walmart has some bloody great deals! I just bought several 3lb bags of sliced beef heart for less than a dollar each!!!
There are some benefits to feeding free range, organic, no growth hormone or antibiotic feed food. It’s better for the environment, your dog doesn’t consume any of that stuff by secondary means. Genetically modified food can be some scary stuff – BUT yor dog can still hugely benefit from a raw diet if you DON’T feed it. It’s largely a personal choice. I try to feed organic whenever I can, actually I try to buy organic for MYSELF whenever I cann too. But alot of the times I (and my wallet) can’t say no to the “other” foods. Which of course all meet FDA requirments and are safe to eat. As far as freshness of meat – just like for us, make sure you use or FREEZE by the date on he package. (LOTS of great deals if you buy meat that’s about to go out of date and freeze – stores mark it WAYYY down)
Take a look for health food supermarkets in your area. I have a home economist market near me that sells all organic foods. Like the regular supermarkts near me – they mark the meat down too. Also like going there because I can get my probiotic, chlorophyl, flax seed oil supplements too! Trader Joes also has some good stuff.
Farmers markets are great too! I often find organic fruits and veggies there. Plus the free range eggs – and it’s all CHEAP. Plus I just love open air markets *grins*
Ask local butchers as well – you may be able to get some meat “scrap” for a few bucks or even free! Nothing fresher. Some butchers even specialize in organic
If you have a hunting community in your area – learn to LOVE deer season. Talk to places that offer deer processing – you can get a TON of totally fresh and organic meat that way too.
For the stuff harder to find – buy online. It’s not that expensive and once again you can choose the organic if you like.

Chances are you've probably heard of a raw food diet and how healthy it is for you, but have you ever wondered what exactly that are you talking about? Maybe it is expected that raw oysters and beef on your table. That does not sound very appealing, no?
In fact, a raw food diet is simply eating foods in their natural unprocessed state. You probably already are part of a raw food diet. If you snack on fruits and vegetables without cooking, then you have eaten raw.
Raw foods, or unprocessed food is much better for you because the act of food processing removes many of their nutrients vital. You've probably heard that cooking vegetables can filter a lot of vitamins and can also destroy the important enzymes for food too. Packaged foods, which are in the grocery store, such as potato flakes to make mashed potatoes and other foods that have been processed in some way to make an easy meal package, not only have little nutritional value, but his body simply is not made to process these foods.
If you think about raw foods and natural foods the way they come from the earth, then it makes sense that these are easier for our bodies because the process of ancestors ate foods are great and really has not been that many generations from grocery stores, canned goods and, therefore, were invented.
Food crudes are full of vitamins, minerals and enzymes. These enzymes are important but do not hear much about them. One thing they do is help digest food and get enough enzymes to help your body with the digestion process with lots of energy, and if your body is spending less energy on digestion will more energy for you to do things you like. Have you ever wondered why you feel so tired after eating a big meal of cooked food? One of the reasons is because enzymes are destroyed by cooking, so no enzymes to help your body digest that big meal you just ate.
People in a raw food diet eat about 75% of their food, like raw foods and whole. These include fruits, vegetables, sprouts, raw nuts, seaweed and other foods in its natural form.
Raw foods can be prepared in a couple of ways. One of the most popular is pressed. Many people go on a juice fast in all that do is drink the juice from raw fruits and vegetables. Even just drinking fresh juice in the morning can give a boost to your health.
Another way in which people eat raw foods is to use a food dehydrator. This has all the moisture from fruits and vegetables that can be easily stored for long periods of time without losing quality. A food dehydrator uses hot air for drying foods, but maintaining the temperature below 116A ° F for food enzymes life are not destroyed.
Of course, you can simply eat your fruits and vegetables the way nature intended collected directly from the tree. The nuts can be a food big oil you eat for snacks as well, but be careful because most of the nuts that are in the grocery store cooking. You need to ensure obtain raw nuts that are likely to buy online or at a health food store.
Not having all of a sudden onset of eating 75% their foods as raw foods, in order to enjoy the health benefits of raw food diet. You can gradually increase the amount of food you eat oil on and eventually you will realize how much energy you have and how healthy you feel. Remember, you are what you eat!

I love to eat, and unfortunately it shows.
ThatÂ’s why I so desperately wanted to find a diet that didnÂ’t take away all of my favorites, but still allowed me to shed some unwanted pounds.
A friend mentioned the South Beach Diet, but I was skeptical. Who ever heard of a diet that lets you eat a good hearty breakfast, two delicious snacks, and even dessert every day? Impossible! Yet, I found it was true.
Yes, IÂ’m going to go out on a limb and proclaim that eating on a diet does not have to be bland and monotonous. In fact, IÂ’m going to show you exactly how to say goodbye to boring diet foods, and hello to an array of tasty dishes thatÂ’ll be sure to whet your appetite!
Sure, the first two weeks on South Beach (Phase I of the program), when you basically strip all the carbs, sugars and fats from your eating plan, are tough.
But itÂ’s worth it. After just 14 days, your body adjusts to a healthier, more glucose stable diet and youÂ’ll already be looking and feeling 10 times better than before.
And after Phase One, youÂ’re free to begin to add the good carbs and a few sugars back into your diet, (within reason, of course).
At first I thought creating satisfying meals from an approved eating list might be boring. Was I ever wrong!
Honestly, South Beach allows such a variety of veggies and meats that it’s pretty easy to find new and delicious ways to prepare them – especially if you love to cook.
Just in case youÂ’re skeptical, I thought maybe IÂ’d share some of my favorite menu options with you:
Breakfast:
IÂ’ve always loved breakfast. Maybe because my grandma (who lived with us when I was growing up), used to make us these large, elaborate and filling breakfasts to help us start the day.
So, IÂ’ve always relished the idea of sitting down to a steaming hot plate of pancakes and eggs. Okay, so the pancakes are gone now (you canÂ’t have everything), but South Beach still lets me have my eggs (scrambled or in a beautiful omelet dripping in low-fat cheese), with a side of Canadian bacon, a great spinach frittata, or even a tasty veggie quiche. Plus you get to have yogurt, coffee or tea on the side.
Lunch:
At first, when I read the food lists for South Beach, I worried that IÂ’d miss my normal sandwich, chips and diet soda midday meal.
Boy was I wrong! Now I indulge in a variety of tasty soups packed with fresh vegetables and lean meats, grilled chicken salads on a bed of romaine and topped with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, or a tasty cobb salad, chicken caesar salad, roasted portabella pizza; poached salmon, or even a unique veggie antipasto.
(Hungry yet?)
Dinner:
Just in case you might be worried that your evening meal on South Beach might offer a few less options — donÂ’t.
With virtually no lean meat or fish prohibited, your choice of entrées is nearly limitless.
Some of my all-time favorites include seared tuna made with a spicy marinade and served with grilled vegetables, a delicious merlot-marinated flank steak and salad, broiled lamb chops with mint pesto, and roasted chicken with sliced tomatoes sprinkled with rosemary salt.
And for dessert, I enjoy indulging in custard made of chocolate espresso, lime cheesecake or even a mocha ricotta crème (that tastes just like an Italian cannoli, by the way) or chocolate dipped strawberries.
Now, howÂ’s that for eating right?
Like any diet, you canÂ’t just eat a bunch of snacks and desserts and still lose weight (IÂ’ve tried), but with the South Beach Diet IÂ’ve managed to find a way to really enjoy a good variety of foods that leave my body and my taste buds satisfied, without getting bored with the same old things over and over again.
Are you stuck in a South Beach Diet rut? I’m going to come to the rescue. Get more South Beach Diet Menu ideas, and see what kind of South Beach Diet foods you can eat at my extensive dieting blog covering the South Beach Diet Plan and tons more. You’ll thank me later!

David Wolfe’s Sunfood Nutrition
Sometimes it amazes me that parents are reluctant to give an attention deficit disorder diet a good try. After all, it’s been proven time and time again that food is our best medicine and our first defense against disease. It makes sense that giving your child the nutrition that his brain needs may help him feel better, so he can have better behavioral controls. In this article, you’ll learn how making simple substitutions in your child’s diet can help reduce the symptoms of ADHD.
Diet for Attention Deficit Disorder – The Small Substitution Method
Making dietary changes does not have to be painful or make your child that he is missing out on foods he likes. If your child has become accustomed to eating a lot of junk food, just make simple substitutions over time.
Here are some examples:
- Substitute chips with pork rinds. They have a crunchy texture, but are made from protein, rather than simple carbs.
- Substitute sugary snacks with fresh fruit. For a sweet taste, add some freshly whipped cream with a sprinkling of cinnamon on the top
- Substitute sugary cereals with oatmeal topped with cinnamon, nuts and raisins.
- Replace processed grains with whole grains.
- Replace greasy cheeseburgers with turkey burgers served on whole wheat buns.
- Replace candy bars with protein bars that have a 40-30-30 protein/carb/fat balance.
- Serve plenty of lean meat, fresh fish and lots of lightly steamed vegetables.
- Serve raw nuts for crunch and texture. Add them to salads and whole grain cereals. Also serve nuts as snack foods.
- Slowly cut out foods with preservatives, additives and trans fats.
Although an attention deficit disorder diet that is grounded in good nutrition will help normalize your child’s blood sugar, thus encouraging a calm and focused mood, you’ll also want to make sure your child gets plenty of exercise. Additionally, make sure to supplement his diet with omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins and minerals.
Many parents have gone the extra mile to discover natural remedies that provide the brain with the nutrients it needs to restore proper function. Although you should research the ingredients of any supplement, it helps to know that there are children who have experienced relief from symptoms when homeopathic remedies are used together with regular exercise and a healthy diet for attention deficit disorder.

Whats healthy and cheap?
Ive have £20 4 my weekly shop(just 4 me) and need some ideas of healthy/low fat food that is cheap.
What raw foods can i get and does any1 have any recipes on how to cook on a budget?
Chher
Here’s my budget chicken soup/stew recipe:
buy some small packets of dried soup mix, dried barley, dried lentils, ( I use McKenzies) and macaroni
buy a kilo of chicken wings, 1 litre chicken stock, 1 tin tomatoes, 1 packet frozen corn.
take 1/4 cup each of the dried pulses – put in a pot & 4 cups water and soak overnight. drain – fill the pot with water – bring to the boil – simmer for at least half an hour- keep adding water as it swells up – – drain – rinse – add to soup.
meanwhile – in a large pot, brown the cut up chicken wings, add onions, garlic, stock, tomatoes, simmer. add the cooked pulses. fill up the pot with water. simmer for a couple hours.
cook the macaroni separately – when drained – add a little olive oil to keep it from sticking. The macaroni will keep for days in the fridge.
To serve – place a large spoonfull macaroni in bottom of bowl, ladle hot soup on top.
you can also add fresh vegetables to this recipe – cheap carrots, potatoes, cabbage, pumpkin.
It really is a versatile dish – can also be frozen in single serve sizes.

raw food detox diet book

I like to call the raw food diet Detox simpler to transform the world revolution of our generation's diet. There is no point, calories, or counting carbs. No membership fee club, no pills to buy, not eating mad-then-stop, or anything else to distract you from <i> healthy </ i> weight loss. We are going back to basics here, folks.
Natalia Rose has been a certified clinical nutritionist in New York since years. She has been and still is not working with models, actors and media personalities to help them stay in shape for the camera. During that time, she has made amazing discoveries and advances to help everyone to get better, lose weight and keep it off, find beautiful skin again and gain more energy. In his book, "The Raw Food Detox Diet," which gives the public perception of what she has been saying for models and actors for years. The book takes you through of all the details of the raw food diet, and the transition safely into it. She answers many questions that people have been asking her, and makes as easy as humanly possible for someone to change their lives and health.
I started the raw food diet in January, but still bought this book, I felt like I needed some help and pointers, because my food choices seemed to be getting too repetitive. Its five-step plan undoubtedly revitalized my dieting, and I can see how anyone can help those just starting to those who have already begun, but is lost in transit.
The good news is that you have the peace of mind that you are reading information from someone who knows his stuff, but it is written so that you do not have to be a scientist to understand. I like things put to me in clear and simple that I can remember without a dictionary, and I think the book serves very well.
In short, I have and will continue to recommend this diet to everyone I know. Now that I read this book is recommended as the best place to start and maintain motivation! As is a test, I would say that would give three stars to five.

Who saves more $-the vegan or the raw vegan?
Because vegans use stoves, their electric bills are higher than raw vegans. But, then again, raw vegans have to buy more food ingredients (to make their own meals) and more raw items which also means more money. I was curious to know who actually spends more. And we are assuming here that both parties purchase organic foods.
I think the raw vegan will spend more – they consume a lot of nuts, which are very expensive, and consume a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables to fill up and feel full. There is also a ton of special consideration needed to prepare raw food – blenders, food processors, dehydrators, juicers, etc. To make a single big glass of juice, raw from your own juicer, can take a few dollars of fruit easily.
Meanwhile, a non-raw vegan’s diet can have bulky, filling food like whole grain pasta, quinoa, tofu, tempeh and other foods; the raw vegan needs to worry more about what to eat to fill up and remain full, and to maintain calorie intake and all their nutrients. While a non-raw vegan still eats much of what a raw vegan does (fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, etc) they eat so much more in addition to fill their diet, things that are cheap compared to raw produce.
