Any discussion of carbon fuels tends to carry the assumption they are all the same. There are, however, many different types of carbon fuels comprising this energy source.

    Types of Carbon Fuels

While all carbon fuels are generally used for the same purpose, producing energy, there are different types of carbon fuels. Carbon fuels are the hydrocarbon fuels that are found underneath within the Earth. They were produced millions of years ago during the Carboniferous period of history. These fuels are very important to the Earth’s population, as most of our energy is produced by their burning. Formed from decayed plant and animal matter that was both compressed and heated underground, carbon fuels are a non-renewable resource because they are no longer being created.

The three major types of carbon fuels are coal, oil and natural gas. Coal has been used for thousands of years since cavemen first began burning it to heat their caves and cook their food. A solid, shiny black substance, coal is a carbon based fuel that became especially important in the 1800s when both the industrial revolution and the locomotive combustion engine relied on its use. Machinery, as well as transportation, grew quickly once coal was found to be a portable and easy to use power source.

Generally, the hardest types of coal, bituminous and anthracite, are used in the burning of coal. These forms of coal are fairly prevalent. They are mined by strip mining or digging down into coal veins with the raw material then being transported to the surface for refinement. Coal is not clean burning, very efficient or environmentally friendly. The material is also very hazardous to the miners given the dangerous work environment and the coal dust that imbeds in their lungs.

Oil is the most widely used of the types of carbon fuels. Oil (petroleum) is found in natural reservoirs underneath the Earth’s surface. Pumps and piping are drilled down underground to reach these stores of oil, and then it is pumped up to the surface. Crude oil is then refined for use as heating oil, gasoline and many other combustible fuels. Oil’s portability and easy to burn properties make it an excellent source of energy. The burning of oil has a number of drawbacks. It produces significant air pollutants and carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas. Furthermore, oil reserves are not spread equally over the planet, giving rise to political and military tensions associated with the control of the resource.

Natural gas is the last prevalent carbon fuel we use in modern society. While oil and coal formed the backbone of the industrial revolution, natural gas has become more of a player recently. Natural gas is primarily comprised of methane, another greenhouse gas. Natural gas is found in many of the same places as oil and coal, but was not originally a popular energy resource due to transportation and a lack of stability. In fact, it was simply burned off using flaring pipes in many oil fields. With modern advances, natural gas is now much easier to control as it is reduced to a liquefied form for transportation. In fact, flaring of natural gas is no illegal in many countries. As with oil, natural gas has many problems related to the production of greenhouse gases and the fact it is found in abundance in only a few countries such as Iran. While oil gets much of the attention, natural gas reserves are actually under much more stress.

The different types of carbon fuels used in the world today are fast being depleted. With the economies of countries such as India and China growing at shocking rates, the demand will only increase. This will putt the different types of carbon fuels under more stress and inevitably lead to political and military conflict.

    raw food swine flu
What is your favourite home remedy? Or would you rather pop a pill?

Press Trust of India, Friday November 6, 2009, Moscow Spicy Indian curries could prevent swine flu and common cold just like any prescribed medicine available with the chemists, Russian doctors have said.

“You can strengthen immunity by consuming spicy foods like curries, as spices like turmeric, ginger and zeera (cumin) also posses excellent therapeutic effect,” an unnamed official of Moscow city sanitary and anti-epidemics committee was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Besides the intake of spicy food, people have been advised to consume raw onions and garlic, which also are said to contain good anti-viral properties.

    http://www.ndtv.com/news/sci-tech/spicy_indian_curry_could_prevent_swine_flu.php

Fresh ginger, grated and and mixed with honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice in hot water soothes a sore throat. Dissolving a cinnamon stick in a cup of hot green tea helps to sweat out a cold. Hot chillies added to a meal help reduce cold and flu symptoms. Fresh garlic can help to boost the immune system. I use all these remedies and find them effective.

Does anyone know where I can find a Fresh Class in the Los Angeles area? It is about cooking with raw foods.?

My aunt told me about these classes that meet only once a month and teach you to eat with fresh raw foods. She said that you can’t tell that there isn’t any meat in the meals. After 30 days you go back to the class and learn more. Thats pretty much all I know about the class. Its called Fresh, I looked it up online but really couldn’t get much results that sounded like what I was looking for.

Why don’t you try a cookbook if you can’t find the classes?

Try Blossoming Lotus’ raw food “cook” book. It’s multi-awarded and was even cited by Martha Stewart.

They have a website of their restaurants in Hawaii and in Portland, Oregon.

    I recommend it, it’s worth a try.

Does Ginseng Work? Does it really provide noticeable health benefits?

So I’ve decided I should drink Honey Lemon Ginseng Green Tea. Daily. And I’m gonna make the tea myself. I drove around Los Angeles to buy all the necessary ingredients.

Organic honey from the weekly farmer’s market in Santa Monica on the 3rd Street Promenade.
Organic lemon from Whole Foods Market.
Imported Asian Green Tea from a specialized Asian tea house in San Gabriel.
Finally, I went to Chinese medicine stores to shop for the final ingredient, ginseng.

Holy crap, I didn’t realize ginseng is so expensive. A small packet of sliced raw ginseng easily sells for $15; and that’s only 2.66 ounces of low quality ginseng. A regular-quality ginseng can go for $40, $50 for a small pack. High-quality wild ginseng costs $80 and even over $100 per pack. That’s ridiculous.

Is ginseng really worth the price tags?? I read there is no scientific proof that ginseng has any actual health benefit. Has anyone gotten any actual benefit from regularly consuming ginseng??

Edit:you went to alot of trouble buying all this so i hope it works for you.
As “noneedforaname” mentioned Ginseng is a wonderful herb for someone who needs it.
If if are in super health and have no need, then it might not have any effects for you.
Asian ginseng which i assume is what you bought is expensive & the higher quality the more expensive.
It IS worth it BUT only if thats the thing you need not just because it was bought because its a popular herb(root).
American Ginseng is not a substitute for Asian Ginseng to save money because they are different with different effects. They’re similar but not the same.
One certain person will need american ginseng & another certain person will need asian ginseng & another person wont need them all together & could have adverse effects.
Ginseng is powerful & can have side effects & a person should only take them if they need it.For example you wouldnt just take Statins just for the sake of it unless you needed it & the same should be when using herbs because they can have side effects. Also, usually TCM practitioners prescribe things like Ginseng in a formula with other herbs to minimise side effects. It is rare that just a single herb is prescribed in TCM as usually they prefer to give in formula with other herbs to minimise adverse effects.
Asian Ginseng is generally thought of more as a “yang” tonic wheras American as more of “yin” tonic.
So if your someone that is “hotheaded”, easily to be angered & gets furious & enraged easily etc then Asian ginseng might not be the best thing for you
Here is some more information but it is a site which is selling something so im just telling you in advance so you dont think im trying to sell you something.

    http://www.viable-herbal.com/combos/herbs/c010.htm

Also there is a book called “The ancient wisdom of the chinese tonic herbs” by Ron Teegarden which has more information about the different types of ginseng & why red ginseng is most expensive etc if your interested in more information. The book also covers about the different medicinal mushrooms etc

Formed by the brute force of the Atlantic Ocean, the stretch of coastline from Malin Head to Kinsale has some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the whole island, with magnificent cliffs and tranquil coves quiet. The mountains of North Mayo are also a must for all who travel there. But wherever you venture, you will witness jaw-dropping natural beauty, be it cork or Connemara.

    raw food swine flu

First things first, do not worry, the media is creating a lot of fear surrounding the H1N1 much more than they honestly deserve. Today I will discuss how to prevent H1N1 infection and survive a pandemic that could be stepped up.

My suggestion # 1 is that if this becomes widespread is not based on a vaccine for the cure, in many instances has been found that vaccines actually cause the health problem are designed to protect you! This is not including the damage they can do to your DNA and mercury that are often presented as a preservative. Vaccines are very often the very cause viral mutations that lead to deadly virus strains. Is that something you really want in your body? I'll take my chances without one thanks.

A important fact: An estimated 250,000-500,000 people each year die each year from the flu! True, so keep this in perspective. What seems most it is likely that the extra swine flu is receiving attention is simply to draw attention to what almost any form of the flu can do.

What course do to treat and prevent H1N1 infection?

    # 1 – Eating raw garlic: Every day, chewing raw garlic cloves 2.5. This can be done quite easily when chewing the garlic with water in the mouth and swallow. This significantly boosts your immune system and protects the body from various pathogens such as influenza.

If of contracting a virus that can mega dose of 30-50 grams of vitamin C per day for a few days to a major increase your immune system and rapidly destroy the virus before I have time to spread.

    # 3 – Juice: What do I mean? I mean go out and buy a juicer and start fresh juice organic vegetables and fruits every day. This helps your body all the nutrients they need to optimize their operation and strengthen the immune system significantly. Have you ever wondered why some people just do not get sick, their bodies often have good levels of all vitamins and minerals needed. When your body has everything you need to protect more than anything else of pathogens.

    # 4 – Elderberry Powder This is possibly the best grass in the fight against H1N1, as it contains compounds that prevent viruses from attaching to cells in the body. Effectively neutralize influenza infection. Store powder now, the price and, literally, could be a lifesaver if H1N1 is becoming a serious problem.
